Here’s an exciting opportunity for you to support Olivia in her first fund-raising endeavor! She’s going to participate as a walker (stroller) in the Texas Alliance for Life "Walk for Life" on June 10th at Pease Park in Austin. To sponsor her with a one time, tax-deductible donation, click here: Sponsor a Walker. You can make a donation right away using your credit card or make a pledge to be billed later. To join the fun and participate as a walker, click here: Walker Registration. Either way, I hope you will support this worthy cause. Olivia will be walking with hundreds of Texans from dozens of churches to promote the Culture of Life and to raise funds for life-saving programs and agencies in the Austin community. 100% of the proceeds will support peaceful, legal efforts by Texas Alliance for Life to protect mothers and children and to promote respect for all human life. To learn more about them, visit their home page here: Texas Alliance for Life. All donations are tax deductible. Thanks for your support!

Cold Days in Nebraska
We’ve made the 800+ mile trek north with a baby in tow for the first time. Olivia did very well and slept most of the driving time (which meant she didn’t sleep when we got where we were going, but I guess that’s better than driving with a crying baby). It’s been super cold up here (60s) compared to what we left (90s) and even though I brought Olivia’s "winter" clothes, I had to borrow a jacket for her from her cousins. Brrr! In just two and a half days, we’ve seen Great Grandma Hatt, Grandma & Grandpa Kane, Uncle Nathan & Aunt Trish, Uncle Adam & Aunt Rachel, Uncle Matthew, Uncle Zachary, Great Grandma Andrews, Great Grandma & Great Grandpa Stara, Grandma & Grandpa Andrews, Uncle Galen & Aunt Lisa, and cousins Abby, Andy, Alex & Ben!! We’re looking forward to all of our time together the rest of the week.
PS Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I love you!!
Hot Day in Texas
Most days here are pretty warm. Today started out looking like a pretty good Saturday. We all got up and had breakfast and then Olivia and Red wanted to go for a walk so we did and then were just working around the house inside. And it started to seem pretty warm. For a while we thought it was because we were working, but eventually we quit kidding ourselves about how hard we were working and we checked the inside temperature on the thermostat. Sure enough 85o F. We quickly found that the A/C unit outside wasn’t running. No signs of life. We did have some big thunderstorms and water flows last night (and the night before) by where the A/C unit is outside. So I looked around at it a little and there isn’t much available for troubleshooting. I checked the breakers and they were all on. So what next I though as I started to Google for A/C unit troubleshooting. Then I remembered the first rule of computer troubleshooting. Reboot. So I went out and flipped the breaker off and then back on. And what you know everything started working. So we are cool for now.
We've been Googled
We’ve received our first official report of a total stranger reaching our site via a Google search. I think it is pretty impressive that with all the web content out there, technology still exists to be able to find relevant information easily. Have you Googled yourself lately? Check out what you get for "Olivia Grace Andrews".
Spam Defeated!
On www.drozmonkey.com at least. I’ve never cared for spam. Either kind really. You might think that taking Spam on a camping trip is a good idea but it isn’t. What I’m really talking about though is electronic spam. You probably have gotten spam in the form of emails and find it annoying. I like Google’s Gmail because not only can you access it from the web as well as downloading your email to you computer with a POP3 client like Outlook, but they also have very good spam filtering and I’ve never gotten a single piece of spam in my Gmail account. But you may not realize just how sophisticated spammers and spambots really are. For example spammers even go around looking for innocent little blogs like this one and try to post spam comments. That’s why on some blogs the administrator requires that you register and login before you can post comments. So why don’t you see any spam on this site? Well you might think that the spambots haven’t found us. But I can view logs of how many visits the site gets and there aren’t that many people reading this site. No, they try to spam us, but we use the Akismet plugin of WordPress and it keeps us spam-free. It gives us the option of looking at what it caught to make sure it isn’t being too restrictive, but it’s been 100% so far. So here’s a big thank you to the folks who wrote the plugin and made it free for personal use.
Class of 1996 Reunion
Hey Aquinas class of ’96! It’s been 10 years. Yes, really. By now you all should have gotten your invitations to our class get together, but just in case I’ve posted it here. So are you coming? Feel free to leave a comment below to let the rest of us know if you are coming or not. Also forward this site to the rest of the class so that everyone who wants to post a message can.
Oh, and that way everyone gets to see pictures of my beautiful daughter Olivia. Shameless I know, but it is my website.
