On www.drozmonkey.com at least. I’ve never cared for spam. Either kind really. You might think that taking Spam on a camping trip is a good idea but it isn’t. What I’m really talking about though is electronic spam. You probably have gotten spam in the form of emails and find it annoying. I like Google’s Gmail because not only can you access it from the web as well as downloading your email to you computer with a POP3 client like Outlook, but they also have very good spam filtering and I’ve never gotten a single piece of spam in my Gmail account. But you may not realize just how sophisticated spammers and spambots really are. For example spammers even go around looking for innocent little blogs like this one and try to post spam comments. That’s why on some blogs the administrator requires that you register and login before you can post comments. So why don’t you see any spam on this site? Well you might think that the spambots haven’t found us. But I can view logs of how many visits the site gets and there aren’t that many people reading this site. No, they try to spam us, but we use the Akismet plugin of Wordpress and it keeps us spam-free. It gives us the option of looking at what it caught to make sure it isn’t being too restrictive, but it’s been 100% so far. So here’s a big thank you to the folks who wrote the plugin and made it free for personal use.
