Molly learned to crawl the day after we got back from NE! I quickly dropped the unpacking and went to picking up the floor/babyproofing. She has hardly slowed down since and really enjoys getting around on her own. Livy also enjoys coaching her and cheering her on. I must admit, though, having two mobile children is an adjustment! Today my challenge was keeping Molly away from the potty chair while assisting Livy (and trying to avoid shutting her outside the door listening to her scream). I finally resorted to putting up the baby gate to keep her out of her other fascination – the dog food in the kitchen. Thankfully, none of you are here to watch pregnant me climb back & forth over the gate!
Molly also had her 9-month checkup this week and she’s doing great. She weighed just over 20 pounds (70th percentile) and was 27 inches tall (30th precentile). The PA said that since she is eating solids well, we could lay off the formula a bit. Perhaps her lopsided percentiles might have something to do with our inexperience in formula feeding? I really enjoyed this visit because the PA not only complimented my “happy, healthy babies” but went on to say that I was “doing a great job.” It’s not often you get compliments for being a mother (and especially from a professional) so I soaked it all up!
The friends of ours who have requested support via their websites for the TAL Walk have mentioned a specific goal and have all reached or surpassed it, so I’m thinking maybe we’ve had a slow response because we didn’t throw out any numbers. The first year we did it, Livy raised $365 thanks in part to a couple of large donors, but also lots of small ones. Last year, I was not nearly as active in seeking sponsors and we dropped quite a bit. So this year, let’s say our goal is to get back to what we raised the first year – $365. That means we need 21 folks to give us $15 (since Gma & Gpa Kane gave us a headstart). Will you consider sponsoring the girls at the $15 rate to support this worthy cause?? It’s that time of year again and Olivia is getting her walking shoes ready for her third annual fund-raising endeavor! She’s going to participate as a walker (and this year her goal is to actually walk the whole thing!) while Molly tags along in the stroller for the Texas Alliance for Life “Walk for Life” on June 7th at the Quarries in Austin. To sponsor her with a one time, tax-deductible donation, click here: Sponsor a Walker. You can make a donation right away using your credit card or make a pledge to be billed later. To join the fun and participate as a walker, click here: Walker Registration. Either way, I hope you will support this worthy cause. Olivia will be walking with hundreds of Texans from dozens of churches to promote the Culture of Life and to raise funds for life-saving programs and agencies in the Austin community. 100% of the proceeds will support peaceful, legal efforts by Texas Alliance for Life to protect mothers and children and to promote respect for all human life. To learn more about them, visit their home page here: Texas Alliance for Life. All donations are tax deductible. The walk is a few weeks earlier this year, so please help us make the most of the remaining 3 weeks to raise money. Thanks for your support!
